Worked for 10 years straight.

This thing fed my cats for 10 years straight. I only had to clean it and change the batteries from time to time. My last cat passed away so I gave this feeder away after 10 years of service.

Suitable for an affordable solution

Pros:-Affordable: I purchased for $47.99 in 2015.-Durable: I used it for 4+ years.-Reliable: I never had issues with it not dispensing food.Cons:-Extremely difficult to clean. The issue isn't the lid, hopper, or bowl. Those come off easily. The issue is that over time, small pieces of food from the hopper get inside of the base where the mechanism is located. There are many screws to get the cover of the base off, and some of them are deep, requiring a long, thin screwdriver. The screws stripped easily, and I can no longer take the cover off. Bugs can get inside of that part, so it's necessary to clean out the food from the base regularly, and that's difficult to do.-Easy for pets to break into. My cats help themselves to as much food as they want. They put their paws up the chute and knock food free. They also push it across the room, which releases some food. They have also knocked it over, causing the food from the hopper to spill.-Uses lots of batteries: It takes 3 D-cell batteries. The low battery light flashes very early, so I wouldn't recommend changing the batteries as soon as it flashes.I would recommend as a solution for vacations or short periods of time, but not as an everyday solution. I'm buying a new feeder and plan to try a different brand/model.

Reliable and lasts!

I felt compelled to write a review because I've had this feeder for over 4 years and it is still working great. I had an "animal planet" brand feeder prior to this one, which would randomly stop working and I'd find out that I've been starving my poor dog for who knows how long. This one doesn't miss a meal and has a battery low light so I have time to change the batteries before they die. I've read some of the hilarious cat reviews, so it seems this is better suited for dogs that won't trick the feeder into spilling all of the food. The only complaint that I have is that the bowl still not stay in the slot, and my dog moves it out of the way every time to make sure she gets all of the food that might not have dropped all the way into the bowl, I've seen her nudge it underneath to get more food as well. My main reason for this feeder was that I wanted portion control to avoid too much weight gain and that we sometimes hand long hours and I know my pup will get fed on time. We have also had the freedom of going away for a couple of days and giving her access to the backyard. Overall, I'm so glad I took the chance on it since the last feeder was such a fail.
