tl;dr dead and completely useless due to mechanical failure after two years of simple use, and a completely unhelpful company/support team.I bought this feeder two years ago after my previous Petsafe feeder finally stopped working after 7+ years. I travel often, and had a great experience with the 1st gen Petsafe feeder for such a long time, I didn't think twice when I upgraded to this newer model. It worked well enough over the last two years, with only occasional errors and inaccuracies. But overnight this week, I started getting notifications that the feeder was experiencing an error and my pet was not getting fed.I followed the online "troubleshooting" that just tells you how to disassemble, clean, and reassemble the unit. I quickly realized that the only mechanical part in the feeder -- the motor -- was not responding to any prompts to feed or prime. It isn't stuck or jammed, the motor just won't turn. You can tell that the feeder is receiving the signal for the motor to activate, since it sends the error notification to my phone and the light on the unit (blue when functional) flashes to red. You can see this happen in the video, and see how the motor doesn't do ANYTHING...it's just dead.I reached out to Petsafe's product support, but literally no help was offered that I had not already previously attempted on my own; they just sent me links to the same troubleshooting pages on their site. Instead, I was told that the machine cannot be repaired and I have to replace the feeder. They offered a 20% discount if I ordered directly through their website.Seeing as I bought this feeder in 2022 for $150, this insinuates that I must spend $270 on a pet feeder every two years if I want to continue with this brand. The "help" was a waste of time, and clearly this feeder is not built to last, is not repairable, and is an egregious waste of money. I will not risk my pet's wellbeing by not being fed while I am away due to this machine's absurdly short obsolescence and inability to do the only thing it is created to do: feed my pet. Unreliable and severely overpriced for a machine that is completely unusable after two years.Wait. Not COMPLETELY unusable. It's now functioning as a great extra storage container for my pet's food. Too bad this "container" cost me $150.

This feeder is overpriced, very poorly designed, and lacking in basic features. The battery backup only works with an internet connection, meaning that if you have a power outage and your router/modem loses power this feeder will no longer work. The smallest portion size is 1/8 cup which is much too large for a medium sized cat that needs to be fed three times a day. The feeder can only be programmed with one schedule and cannot be programmed with different schedules for different days of the week.
